DRAGON LONGZE ENCOUNTERS FREYA (BY BOST, 2026 - PART 8

DRAGON LONGZE ENCOUNTERS FREYA (BY BOST, 2026 – PART 8)

The long walk after her captivity by the bandits, in the bracing air of the autumn day had made Freya so hungry that despite her fear and distress she was famished, still she adamantly refused to eat a morsal.

01- FREYA HELD IN CAPTIVITY (1)JP

Freya felt that she would rather die than be the source of entertainment to this unruly bunch; however, just then Loki nonchalantly lifted his gloved hand and his red, glowing eyes pinned into hers, therefore mesmerising her, he simply flicked his little finger at her. At that instant she found that she was no longer in control of her will, and therefore, began to sing, though, mournfully, for that was what was in her heart, as her tears cascaded down her cheeks.

Loki, seated at the distance, studied this delectable morsal, with renewed interest, and at one point, even licked his chops.

02- FREYA SINGS FOR DEVIL PANTHER  SEDIT -LOKI(5) jp

~

Outside the house blending in the shadows of an ancient, large tree stood a solitary warrior, watching all that went on inside.

From the distinct (vocal cords) voice of the person as she sang, he knew that the captive forced to perform was Freya. During his hunt, he had unmistakably detected the trace of the red-tailed fox fairy and the Bull demon Bandits, particularly the Demon panther Sedit, who called himself at present Loki, the very one he had long sought to destroy.

The Heavenly warrior now feared for her safety, but he had to exercise patience; also, he had been ordered to wait for the reinforcement that would manifest, in way of Dragon Longze. As it were, he had to be methodically astute (shrewd), before he could extricate her from the clutches of Sedit; hence, he had waited, going over in his mind the already conceived, valid (authorized) strategic plan, that also entailed the surprise attack where which all- of the nine Bull Demons and the malevolent and powerful fox-spirit Maev, that had once been Sedit’s one of six paramour (concubine, courtesan)- would be totally incapacitated and then vanquished (eliminated).  The bandits that had their souls devoured by Sedit and only functioned as enslaved zombies (sleepwalkers, shells of humans) could be shown mercy, if warranted.

03- MAEV - MALEVOLENT FOX SPIRIT (CONCUBINE OF SEDIT)

Well after the music had stopped, and Sedit in human form, ruffian Loki, went to the outhouse to take a leak, warrior Erland, having received notification that Dragon Lonze was near, asked and then being given permission, he’d made his tactical (pre-emptive, strategic) move. He (invoked) wove a binding spell that trapped Loki in the outhouse, then brandishing his sword, rushed into the main complex and anger fuelling his strength, his onslaught took its toll on some but not all of the Bull Demons; and, the fighting then, had spilled, to outside.

04- WARRIOR ERLAND (6)JP

However, there were far too many of them, and they were all powerful demons, so they regrouped swiftly and were about to launch their perilous assault on the Erland, when timely arriving, at that precise moment, Dragon Longze, flying overhead in the dark sky, having pinpointed the Bull Demons down below, exactly where they were, in his dragon form he swooped down from the clouds.

05- DRAGON LONGZE (77)

He could not use his fiery breath however, as this would destroy the innocent captives that had been enslaved by the Demons, which now were being used as also human shields. Then again, Longze was a dragon with additional means to subdue his nemeses, and that was, he had also the breath that could freeze things.

At the start, the ordinarily competent Bull Demon thugs (ruffians, brutes) were so taken by this unexpected onslaught, by this co-ordinated assault from land and air, that for a spell, their commands failing, their subordinates, the ordinary demons had run around amuck (berserk) and in utter chaos (disorder, confusion), making the Bull Demons imbued (filled)with fury and dread. Nevertheless, they quickly rebounded and then fought adroitly (proficiently, ably) to resist being wiped out.

Powerful demon Sedit, understanding his peril, could not be contained by the powerful spell for long, as he used his ultimate power and once released he with intense fury, explosively charged, not at Erland however, but instead, directly at the far greater threat (menace), Dragon Longze. Sedit’s devastating fiery bolts at each instance nevertheless, were quickly (extinguished) rendered ineffective by Longze’s icy breath.

06- DEVIL PANTHER SEDIT ATTACKS LONGZE

Guardian Asmund had watched his prized pupil Longze’s and the Immortal Erland’s coordinated tactical offensives (key strategy) successfully being deployed (utilized, being implemented), and then came, the final assault (onslaught, incursion),the flawless execution of the plan that permanently concluded (ended) the battle.

Asmund, directed not to personally intercede, with keen interest had beheld (observed, witnessed) all that magnificent feat, from a distance. It had gone better than he had hoped. He made a mental note about how the Immortal Erland (Heavenly Guard) had worked particularly well (fought perfectly synchronized) with Dragon Longze; hence, they formed an invincible team. This might prove useful in future engagements.

Of course, Asmund had another reason for selecting Edmund for this assignment; as he understood eons ago, and long ago before Erland had ascended to Heaven, the malevolent demon Sedit had once brutally massacred Erland’s entire clan. Immortal Erland, therefore, secretly harbored strong resentment against Sedit all this time waiting for his one chance to exact (wrest, gain) apt retribution (vengeance, reckoning) and, also rid the world of this malignant (evil) insidious (sinister) menace.

Demon Sedit being a particularly powerful ancient Devil, moreover, being astute (sly, unpredictable) and a true Machiavellian in his evil scheming ways, for a long while had successfully eluded capture and wrecked havoc and devastation, wherever he had suddenly surfaced, on Earth. Erland having a personal stake in this, had long monitored Sedit’s shrewd ploys (maneuvers, schemes) and devious, ways and knew him better than most; hence, he was given leave to assist Longze in this most demanding feat.

That night, the immediate area where the intense battle had occurred, had been transformed to something unearthly; the intense paranormal struggle, the magical, supernatural war(battle) between the forces of evil and the good was beyond imagining and spectacular to witness; and many from the Heaven did indeed, stopped whatever they were doing and peered down to watched with interest, this momentous event.

07-WAR WITH DEVIL SEDIT (LOKI)

Subsequently, within a short span, all the Bull Demons, including Maev, the malevolent and powerful fox-spirit– they were all wiped out, Sedit took a while longer but he too, eventually got vanquished by the combined invincible prowess’s of both Erland and of dragon Longze.

Culprit Jedrick at one point having found himself confronted by Heavenly warrior Erland, he, in vain had fought to the best of his ability. His swordsmanship and other prowess, naturally fell far short, in besting (defeating) this valiant, invincible warrior’s innate skills and dexterity; and so, at one point, realizing the hopelessness of his situation, he had sought to flee (abscond) the scene of battle. But Jedrick could not get far and in the end, he too, was captured; and though he did not deserve it, he was pardoned (forgiven), along with the guard that had accompanied him. Also spared, were those humans forced into servitude, which were zombie servant slaves, cooks, and domestics etc. Those that could be saved and some that were blameless, they all lay senseless on the mats, tied up with a spell rope and placed under the spell of amnesia, which Erland and Longze, taking turns, had invoked.

Erland was tasked with the transport of all these spared and unconscious bodies of captives to a safe spot at the outskirts of the forest; after its completion, he was to return to Heaven ASP (as soon as possible) and resume his post. Erland, therefore, asked Longze to relay his gratitude and deep regards to Immortal Asmund, who had, back at Heavenly court, staunchly (steadfastly) supported him on his just cause. Finally, he then bid his fond farewells to his once childhood friend, Longze.

Before Erland’s permanent departure however, he had visited his modest dwelling on Earth, whom he had spent so many months, retrieved only one or two items that were dear to his heart, then standing some distance away, he invoked the spell Asmund had imparted him, which instantly made his home, the entire complex, along with the horses and rest of animals all of them to vanish instantly into thin air as though they were never there.

                                                                                                  ~

Back at the forest, well before the battle between good and evil had taken place, that night Freya, after witnessing the odious, (horrible, loathsome, abhorrent) acts of the ruffians that were demons at the dining hall, she had been roughly bound then hauled away and dumped onto the dirt floor of the dark cellar. The shock of night’s vile events having already numbed her senses with fear and glum foreboding, she had then, mercifully passed out. And therefore, she had missed all (the commotion) of the subsequent, earth-shaking course of events. She had laid there in that dark cellar, on the cold, musty dirt floor, bound and unconscious and fortunately, well forgotten by Jedrick, all the Bull Demons, Maev and Sedit, till the devastating battle ended and she was retrieved and brought back upstairs.

By then, three hours prior, Heavenly warrior Erland, along with his copious (plentiful) human cargoes, had already departed the scene.

Freya, having lost all hope, even though she was brought back to safety, from the edge of insanity, her sound reasoning now restored, she remained, in a state of shock and confusion for a long while. Looking at the surrounding ground littered with grizzly corpses that had not yet been cleared, her mind had comprehended (understood), nevertheless, the full measure of her benefactor’s prowess, and despite herself, she was terrified of him. She of course, in her erratic, fitful (disturbed, broken) state, had not recognized her saviour, and so had remained, mostly fearful of him.

Dragon Longze, who was now in his human form and dressed in his unnaturally, immaculate white attire, tentatively approached Freya, seeing that she was still broken (irregular) and terribly shaken; he then,  gingerly took the trembling Freya by the hand and led her to a clearing, at the top of a precipice (cliff), where which it overlooked a magnificent, tranquil scenery, which at the bottom lay a small lake, with the moonlight casting a glowing, shimmering path on the water.

As Freya, then partly (pacified) mollified, gazed up, in part terrified, in part with gratitude filled eyes, up at her benefactor and wondered who exactly was he, a flint of recognition just then registering in her pupils and she understood that he was none other than Longze, who had been so solicitous and kind to her back at the cabin. That same instant another recollection intruded into her brain, and she remembered her father’s words to her in her dream, telling her to implicitly trust this young being.

"Don't be afraid!" Longze, meanwhile, had addressed her in reassuring voice; he next spoke to her, now in peaceful (placid) melodious and soothing tone, "Please be calm, for you are now safe! I am no stranger to you, I am Longze. “

DRAGON LONGZE ENCOUNTERS FREYA (BY BOST, 2026 - PART 4)

DRAGON LONGZE ENCOUNTERS FREYA (BY BOST, 2026- PART 4)

“What do you think you are doing?” The stern voice of guardian Asmund emanating from the clouds, chastised Longze.

“I’ve been curious and wanted to see her, even from afar.” Dragon Longze answered fearlessly; as he’d already vanished from the spot (field), and transported back into the clouds, and now in his truer form, faced his guardian.

01- DRAGON LONGZE (73)

“I’ve only been gone for a milline-second, to relay (impart, convey) my report in person to the Heavenly Emperor, and I come back finding you embroiled in yet another human matter. What have you got involved in, this time Longze? And who’s that young mortal, all bandaged up and convalescing in the cave?” Asmund was clearly disconcerted (annoyed, exasperated).

“I was doing routine reconnaissance, searching for the whereabouts of the trickster demon incarnate, the ersatz (artificial) black panther Sedit, flying high in the clouds when I spotted a menacing looking group of mounted man, all bloodied, wreaked in evil aura, highly pleased with themselves, returning from having accomplished something malevolent. So, I strove to investigate the cause and dove down from the clouds.”

“And naturally, you just couldn’t let it go.” Asmund was fast losing his patience with Longze’s dawdling (measured, unhurried, elaborate) account.

02- GUARDIAN ASMUND

Longze did not wish to further antagonize his guardian, so he bowed his head, then tried his best to make his narration succinct: “As I passed over the high, sheer escarpment, at one point, I spotted a young warrior in dire stress, precariously holding onto jutting roots from the cliff’s edge, halfway down the sheer precipice. What got me really interested, however, was the incredibly benevolent aura, emanating from him. Despite the hopelessness of his situation, his grave injuries and him bleeding profusely, he still clung onto life; though, it was only matter of time before his strength failed him.  How could I not get involved? Would you have me heartlessly, let him drop into the abys, to his certain death?  I grasped that he’d been engaged prior in a fight with that wicked (malignant) bunch, and during the skirmish (clash), he’d been either by choice, accident or deliberately forced over the cliff’s edge. The drop would have been fatal, for at the bottom of that abysmal bluff lay a perilous gorge, with razor sharp, jagged rocks that would have torn his body asunder. As it was, I could see that his sword had fallen from his grasp during his plummet (plunge), for it rested (lay) at the bottom in some bushes; meanwhile, because of his dexterity (adroitness) he’d grasped the few (exposed) sturdy, jutting roots from the vertical cliff face and hung onto it for his dear life.  I assumed when his adversaries (enemy) looked down from the top of the steep precipice, because he must have pressed his body (plush with) against the edge, they could not see him hanging there; then again, even if they did, they knew it would be only a matter of time, before his strength failed him and he still plummeted to his death.  I was about to attempt his rescue, when his hand slipped and he dropped someways down; fortunately, there was a jutted (protruded, overhung) rock ledge, that arrested (halted) his fall (decent); but as his body slummed (pounded) into the rock slab, he must have cracked some of his ribs. I learned of this later, during my meticulous examination of his injuries.”

“Yes, yes, you swooped down and then with your talons carried him off to the cavern (deep cave) and tended to his wounds. But have you considered the future repercussions of your act; meddling, in human affairs never bodes (portends, heralds) anything good?”

“Regardless of the consequences, I couldn’t just let him die?”

After a pensive thought, Asmund nodded. ““No, I suppose not.”

03- GUARDIAN ASMUND

He then said: “I would have ordinarily chastised you for your disregard of the Heavenly rules and for your constant (relentless) interference in human affairs; however, in this case I will forgo it. Even though you knew you would be punished for it, you’d disobeyed direct orders. As you acted benevolently and your compassion is praiseworthy, I shall let this go.  Besides, you are right about this human’s unusually benevolent aura and, furthermore, it seems his lifespan should not have ended at this time. Your interference, though irregular, was in accordance with Heaven’s will. This said, I will still caution you to, in future, be more prudent with your interference. You are way too naïve, too trusting and your heart is too tender Longze- these weaknesses could all (culminate to) end in serious harm. “

“Thank you, sir, for your patience in guiding me and for your most diligent care.”

“Your thanks is unwarranted and premature, Longze.” Asmund affectionately smiled at Longze and waved his hand in dismissal.

“All right, enough talk for now; let’s go and see what you’ve already accomplished and what still needs doing.”

04- DRAGON LONGZE ARRIVES AT THE MOUTH OF THE CAVE (5)

By then they had arrived at the cave; Asmund and Longze, having now swiftly reverted to human form, they advanced towards the entrance of the deep cave.

“I have also breached another rule.” Longze halted his steps, just after they had entered the cave, then meekly confessed. “However, I could not have him awaken while I was away and be scared or attempt at moving and hurt himself; therefore, by placing my fingers over his forehead, just so, I invoked the specific spell “Tirrekan”. He should remain in unconscious state for a long while… Long enough for him to recuperate properly.

“A nebulous brain cloud? Who taught you that?”

“My previous guardian Yenor.”

“I see; and you can do that?  The spell (incantation) is most difficult to master.”

“Well, I confess, I had two tries before I succeed at it”

“Yet you did; that’s remarkable!” Guardian Asmund was impressed.

Asmund and Longze presently approached the wounded, unconscious young warrior, lying on some furs heaped on top of a large flat rock slab, to allow the patient some comfort, while the slab served as his makeshift bed.

Upon his scrutiny, guardian Asmund saw that three of the young warrior’s ribs had been broken and that Longze after having applied some herbal (medicinal) salve to the bruises, he had correctly bound the chest with strips of cloth bandages, to allow proper healing.

Young warrior’s internal bleeding from the severe blows however needed, Asmund’s expertise, to fix it; before proceeding Asmund had explained the steps to Lengze then waited, allowing Longze time to with his special vision, home-in on the internal injuries and, witness the remarkable glowing (power) lifeforce he used, to heal the capillaries (ducts, conduits) of arteries, and internal stratums (layers, tissues, muscles, sinews, tendons, bone etc); therefore saving the young warrior’s life. And by doing so, Asmund thence, became complicit in Longze’s offence; knowing full well he would one day have to answer for it.

05-GUARDIAN ASMUND (9)

                                                                                             ~

There was still some time (about four hours) before the twilight descended on the earth and all became mantled in pitch darkness; therefore, Freya clinging to last hope- that the image she saw briefly was not an aspiration or a figment of her imagination, but a human traveller that had temporarily lost his way, or that he had perchance, at some point seen her father Hans- she considered rushing over and accosting this stranger. He could not have gone too far, though he was no longer in her view… And it was worth investigating it all the same.

A deep sigh escaped Freya Aquila as she briefly stopped and lifted her gaze to look at the sky then at the distant clouds and mist shrouded summits of the mountain, knowing they too would soon be cast in pitch blackness. Her inner voice, meanwhile, was frantically urging her to be sensible and turn back; this was no time to be at outside, alone and unarmed!  This was sheer madness. What would she do if she were to encounter a predatory beast?

Nevertheless, she had remained undeterred in her resolve to seize that last chance. Well, she best hurry on, if she were to catch up with him. Especially since the weather had suddenly just then taken a turn for the worse, and fierce winds now congregating (assembling, culminating) the dark, ominous clouds into flotilla overhead, threatened anew to drench Earth and Freya, in heavy downpours.

Freya, therefore, draped her shawl over her shoulders and resolutely stepped out into the field, just as the first drops were beginning to fall.  She was determined, no matter what happens, to follow the path her father had last taken, which also happened to be where she had spotted that mysterious figure. When she arrived at the spot she’d last spotted the stranger, she looked on ahead and then, chancing on a good sturdy stick and using it, she from thence, intrepidly (boldly) delved deeper into the dark forest and began negotiating the only viable (visible) path that at times was essentially cluttered with rock debris, broken branches or thorny bushes, making it virtually impenetrable (blocked).

                                                                                            ~

It so happened that at that very moment, she had entered the periphery of the forest, mounted Jedrik, accompanied by a guard also on mount, having been sent that afternoon by his father Elof Bijarke, to pay a curtesy call to his future intended Freya and, carrying a token (gift) for her, Jedrik obliged to keep up with his false, dutiful son’s persona, had therefore despite the unexpected rain, had ridden (galloped) to the outskirts and so, happened to spot Freya, delving (venturing) into the forest on foot.

06-JEDRICK

“What does she think she’s doing?” An incredulous scoff (jeer, sneer) escaped Jedrick’s lips; he shook his head and then turned to look at his guard riding behind him, as he added scathingly (derisively, mockingly): “She must be out of her mind, venturing into the forest in this ungodly weather!”

Both riders had at once sprinted their mount into canter (gallop), and raced to catch up to her, to stop or talk some sense into her. Unfortunately, the dense forest had swallowed her at once; furthermore, it hindered any advance on horseback, and if they wished to pursue after her, since any visible paths were still congested with debris, they would have to proceed on foot. This was the only way one could negotiate the difficult terrain within the dense woodland; hence, both dismounted at the edge of the forest, and with Jedrik, with curses on his lips, leading the way, both delved into the thick foliage, Jedrick expecting to soon catch up with his foolish fiancé, Freya.

DRAGON LONGZE ENCOUNTERS FREYA (BY BOST, 2026-PART 1)

DRAGON LONGZE ENCOUNTERS FREYA ( BY BOST, 2026- PART 1)

There existed once a remote village well hidden at high elevation at the foothills of a towering mountain. Four decades ago, the village had been established there by the defeated kingdom Tenner’s warriors, five dissident gentry and some tradesmen and shopkeepers plus few surviving ordinary resilient members plus their families, all having deliberately chosen to be free rather than live under subjugation of the new oppressive (brutal) tyrannical regime that had treated their kind/race as a second-class citizens.

01- VILLAGE

The hardy settlers of this independent village, living at the fringe of civilized world (self-reliant and mostly, cut off from society, the rest of the Nation/ world), had adapted to their new way of life, most by choosing to be hunters and gatherers. There were of course a cattle ranch owned by three recluse aristocrats that mostly kept to himself, a sheep homestead (farmstead) with about thirty sheep, and two thriving horse ranches, which supplied the necessary requirements of the villagers. Only a small group had chosen to work the land and produce medicinal plants, edible roots or grow some grain that could be made into a course (granular, grainy) flour.

This autonomous (self contained)  villagers had  only one blacksmith’s workshop, a single tavern (that was also an Inn) where local man drunk lager beer and gossiped or played cards; a magistrate’s office with three cells (jails); a trading post which was actually a general store that supplied the necessary provisions, such as cloth, blankets, nails, axes, some useful tools and weaponry (for protection) as well as, salt, flour, grain, beans and sometimes coffee (or something resembling it, from the harvested beans they grew on the eastern slopes); a small but thriving bakery that specialized in fluffy pastries; a cobbler (shoemaker) that specialized in custom-made sturdy leather boots particularly for hiking; a tailor shop that did repairs; and of course for the devout citizens, a small church ( with small congregation and a non nonsense priest) and a bell tower.

02- MAYOR GUDMUND KIRK

This small habitation had as well an elected elder serving as the town’s Mayor Gudmund Kirk who was from an old aristocratic family; and as far as politicians go, he was an honest, honorable, conscientious Mayor. mayor: why he’d been re-elected time after time, to be the mayor; his wife Selma was a gracious lady, which fostered (promoted) many charities that benefited the disadvantaged citizens of the village, among them, the destitute peasants, needy individuals and the orphans of warriors lost in combat. Gudmund had three sons: Agil and Corey both were married off at eighteen and lived as prosperous ranchers outside of the village, holding vast lands, the youngest son Hagen, though he had just turned eighteen, was the only one still unmarried and still lived at home. Mayor Gudmund’s erudite (learnt, scholarly) bookish assistant, meanwhile, who had been with the family for two decades, always kept the account books in perfect order.

This village was situated at the edge of a dense coniferous forest, at the foothills of the towering mountain with its summit always covered in ice and snow. At its summit, the four serrated peaks that reached all the way up to Heavens, were perpetually shrouded in miasmic (mist and) clouds.

The ominous, virtually impenetrable (dense, dark) forest with its tall ancient pines that blocked out the light, was populated with abundant wild fowls (birds), deer, wild boar, hare and (diverse sort) sundry of animals and predatory (carnivorous) beasts; and some folk in town claimed, even phantom beings, as well a dragon, dwelt (resided) there.

03B- HANS AQUILA- JP

At the outskirts of this remote village and at the periphery of this dark forest, stood one or two lonely, modest size dwellings, with small surrounding lands, one of which had belonged to Hans Aquila, the hunter; after the tragic demise of his wife three winters past, he dwelled there with his son Alec who was seventeen winters old and his lovely daughter Freya soon to be sixteen winters old. The closeness of their age had made the siblings remarkably tight and Alec, knowing his younger sister’s innocent, trusting, naïve nature had always been very protective of Freya.

May happened to be Freya’s favorite month; for then the birds (cuckoos) would be singing, and the air was fragrant with scent of blossoms. And the abundant grass then begun to grow taller and thicker in the fields (the land around their dwelling), as the sun then shone brightly overall. One such morning the balm and the gladness of the spring morning greeted the young siblings, Freya and Alec and their beloved father Hans, as they with coffee cup in hand sat at the porch steps, together chatting and talking about nothing specific.

And at the end of the chore filled, busy day, when the evening sun set and after repast, the stars came out one by one in the soft and darkening turquoise of a May twilight, in the happy dwelling, peace and joy typically reigned in the hearts of the three habitants who then sat by the hearth and watched the dancing flames for a time, as they listened to Han’s occasional, hair-raising past adventures, before they retired to their respective beds.

Of course, in that vicinity there lived few other hunters and ranchers, but they were not solitary, they had a spouses and kids, had horses and sheep, though they too, mostly kept to themselves.

04- WARRIOR ERLAND

Hans Aquila ‘s closest neighbor warrior Erland, was an excentric recluse warrior, who’s ranch (homestead) had included a barn and about a dozen horses that grazed in a fenced in area, which he managed all by himself. He had inherited the property nine month’s prior when the original occupant, another solitary warrior, had suddenly passed away; but before he did, he had bequeathed the property to his long-time acquaintance (comrade) and friend Erland. Erland was an austere (grim, unsmiling, stern) handsome, redhaired, green eyed, a bearded, stout man about thirty, a confirmed bachelor, simply known as Erland, with no last name, living at the fringe of the Village, same as them.

Freya was the only one, who was undeterred by the warrior Erland’s unfriendly and almost hostile demeanor, furthermore, she believed that he had a good, honest soul; and so, whenever she encountered him, even from the distance, she never failed to greet him with her sincere smile and by the raised, friendly wave of her hand. His stone heart had eventually thawed towards her, just a bit, by her persistent, though respectful and friendly approach. Eventually his stern gaze, his scowl (glare, frown) softened, and he began responding to her persistently deferential, innocent and sweet salutations, with the slight, curt (brisk) nod of his head, as acknowledgment.

                                                                                        ~

Hans Aquila being a competent, a mighty hunter, on occasion accompanied by his son Alec, both would often fearlessly ventured into the depths of foreboding forest, armed with only a bow and quiver of arrows, emerging from it four or six days later, loaded with pelts of predatory animals which Hans then would trade for supplies; as well, hares (rabbit) and one or two bucks (deer), for their sole sustenance (food) as these would last for good length of time.

Most of the game’s choice parts, the meat, within a day was promptly cut off into strips, salted and then set to dry on racks, for their use in later months, while a small portion of it was always reserved for their current use. Freya taking charge of another aspect of it, the seasoned meat would then be made into a hearty, nutritious, succulent (tasty) stew; the slow-cooked meal in a cauldron (cast iron pot), meat simmering along with some wild anions and roots (sweet potatoes) and wild herbs, which Freya collected, at the hearth (fireplace), the casserole soon filled the cabin with delightful, delicious, savory smells. Subsequently, they would enjoy a typical, joyful, evening meal.

05- FREYA

Freya allowing herself a brief respite, stood now by the window, as she sipped coffee from her steaming cup and pensively looked over at the distant ranch; her thoughts were of that lonely warrior Erland who would that very night be sitting down at his table to consume a lonely, perhaps bland and coarse (unsavory meal) repast. She could not help it, but her heart ached for him; suddenly however, having resolved to do the right thing, she rushed back to the hearth.

At dusk that day, Freya bravely giving in to her impulse, carried the small portion of the cooked stew in a clay dish (bowl) placed in her basket and, for the first time ever, trespassed into his property. She then, with quick determined steps climbing the four stairs of his porch and going over left her basket containing the steaming stew and a loaf of freshly baked bread wrapped in a cloth, in front of Erland’s door.  Her heart palpitating wildly, she knocked on the door and hastily retreated into distance before he had a chance to answer the door. She halted few paces away in the middle of the field however and half turned to peak; their eyes met, as he had just then answered the door and, discovering her offering she had left behind.

06- WARRIOR ERLAND

She expected him to be cross with her, but instead, after a curious stare, his grimace (scowl, frown) had unexpectedly softened and replaced with a slight smile as he simply, politely nodded his thanks to her. Afterwards, he bent to pick up the basket and went inside, swiftly closing the door behind him.

Her heart filled with glee (delight, joy), she quickly returned to their dwelling. She had just laid out the plates and cutlery on the table when her father and Alec returned, with a special package they had just purchased after their transaction in Village shop. She was delighted to see that it was a beautifully tailored (sawn), blue dress with beige intricate lace around the lapel (collar, neckline); her heart bursting with joy, she hugged them both in thanks.

Later that night, over dinner she told her father and Alec of what she had done earlier. Hans had frowned at first but then shrugged his shoulders knowing Erland was an honourable man; he shook his head few minutes later however, imagining the daring, impossible scene, then let out a hearty laugh.  Alec looked at his sister with loving affection tinged with worry, hoping her good nature would not one day, land her in any trouble.

07- GIFT BASKET OF THANK YOU

Few days later, the basket was returned, mysteriously appearing at their doorstep at just before dawn, filled with rare fruit, cheese, jar of hard-candies and exquisite pastries, purchased from the Village shops.  And the note that simply said: Many thanks. There was one item however, tugged at the corner, that Freya absolutely treasured, and this was a small silver heart pendant with an ornate initial F on it, fastened on a chain. She wore it from thence always on her neck. Freya had of course wanted to thank warrior Erland in person for this gift, but her aim was deterred by the sound reasoning from her father.

As it were, Erland thereafter, for three weeks, had remained absent from his homestead (ranch); he had gone on a hunt. This was not unusual, as he had done so in the past; meanwhile, a trusted warrior, whom he had occasionally employed (engaged), was seen again taking care of the place during his absence.

                                                                                ~

Back in the Village, meanwhile, typically, in any close society there would exist some unsavory elements and there was therefore a group of young men close to Alec’s age, which had formed a secret clique of their own. At the head of this menacing group was Jedrick, an egotistical, malicious (malevolent, nasty, cruel, wicked) strong-arm bully. He kept this dark side of him well hidden from his betters however, appearing instead a respectful, courteous, in short, a suave (smooth, polite, charming), debonair young man. He was tall, handsome looking and had an athletic built, he was agile and possessed a sharp intellect. He, being the sole son of Head of security, the former aristocrat Elof Bijarke, he never lacked for anything and always got his way; moreover, he was good at wielding his sword, and on every encounter, bested any opposition without fail. His father had always held high hopes for him and unaware of his son’s dark side, had hoped that one day he would take on the position of head of security, after his retirement.

08  JEDRICK

At the last summer solstice, during the festival, Jedrick’s wanton gaze had fallen of unsuspecting Freya accompanying her brother through the many stalls that sold custom made shiny trinkets and delightful treasures of all kinds: anything from custom made books, brushes, hair pins, gem crusted small keepsake boxes, golden necklaces, silver inlaid bracelets or rings, antiquate designed vests, combs, rare herbs, intricate laces, toys, specialty deserts and much more. Jedrick had made his inappropriate move on her when for a second her brother Alec had left her site to purchase a secret surprise gift for her upcoming birthday.

The two antagonists (rivals), Alec and Jedrick, whenever they had accidentally (by coincidence) met in the village squire, without fail they had always clashed. Jedrick with all his advantages, at every contentious (combative) engagement, however, whether it be verbal or physical, infuriatingly so, had failed to trounce (defeat, hammer) Alec. Furthermore, Jedrick had been quietly weary of Alec, understanding that Alec possessed unwavering (staunch) inner strength, stalwart integrity, and obstinate grit (bravery, tenacity, fortitude) Jedrick lacked. Moreover, Alec was an astute observer and had at every instance seen through Jedrick’s deceptive mask (persona) and his false decorum (affability, decency); and then fearlessly he’d exposed (revealed, laid bare) Jedrick’s deception (deceit, called him on it), shaming (defaming) him. Jedrick downright (absolutely) had retaliated then, by persistently spreading unfounded defamatory (slanderous) gossip about Alec and once or twice had even covertly tried to insidiously (perniciously, spitefully) corrupt Alec. He had gone through a lot of trouble (called in favors, bribed, or covertly threatened people) and spent outrageous amount of money; however, in the end, he had still utterly and miserably failed debasing Alec. Subsequently, having run out of all other options but still hoping to contain this threat, or subdue this bane (nuisance, blight), Jedrick this time had tried to recruit Alec into his secret brotherhood (gang). But Alec would have none of it.

09- ALEC

On that day at summer solstice festival, Alec yet again opposing Jedrick had stoically and valiantly defended his sister’s honor; furthermore, with mettle had accepted the privately issued challenge for the ultimate (highest stakes) duel

LONGZE RECOMPENSE DOOMED LOVERS (AN ORIGINAL STORY BY BOST, 2025)

LONGZE RECOMPENSE DOOMED LOVERS

(AN ORIGINAL STORY BY BOST, 2025)

Long ago in ancient times, there lived a very ealthy merchant named Kenzo, who was frugal, hardhearted and ambitious. He had a beautiful daughter named Beatrice, with long, cascading, golden blond hair and eyes with the color of brilliant blue skies.  Her happy and contented life, unfortunately, had ended abruptly, when her birth mother had passed away quite suddenly from a mysterious affliction, when Beatrice was only nine years old. Her father had remarried soon after to a wealthy shrew widow Tuziko, with a sizeable dowry, and a lifelong stipend (income) of thousand cash per year.

01-TUZIKO

Tuziko, also had from her previous husband, two facetious (flippant), ordinary looking daughters, Seson and Flaret. They were three and five years older than Beatrice; always pampered (cossetted, indulged) by their mother, they constantly berated poor Beatrice at every chance they got.  Beatrice was barely tolerated by her malicious stepmother that never missed a chance to criticize, demean, complain and, often in secret perpetually torment her stepdaughter Beatrice, whom she saw as nothing more than a worthless bother.

Left mostly alone, Beatrice often ventured far into the woods, to pick wildflowers but sometimes walked along the remote strip of pebbled sandy shores of the mighty Lake Taho. Once she’d come across a distraught little white snake trapped in a jagged hole, a trapper’s contraption from the looks of it, suffering presumably for several days. Beatrice knew that when the trapper returned, little helpless creature would be instantly claimed, then sold to a local eatery, that specialized in water snake soup. She observed the poor thing, still trying to breakout, but failing at each attempt to extricate his slender body, out of this clever contraption. Beatrice’s heart ached seeing his wretched, weakened state, for he looked to be so miserable and weak and would perish before long. Beatrice summoning her courage, for she actually feared snakes despite size, as all through her life she’d heard of terrible accounts, hair-raising stories about sea serpents, and reached out to gently release the poor thing out of this deadly trap. She had always saved then ministered help to any found injured (hurt, maimed) creatures, regardless of potential danger to herself, and she knew she could nurture him more aptly back in her room; so without delay, she wrapped the little white snake in a cloth, took it home and secretly for many days cared and gingerly tended to his injuries. To her surprise, when she found that he preferred human food, she began concealing bit portions of her meagre meals, to indulge him later on at night.  When the creature looked to be semi-recovered, she took it back to the shoreline and set it free. She with melancholy eyes watched the little white snake slither away from the cloth and slide into the water, to disappear quickly under the gently undulating (rolling) waves of the deep lake Taho.

“I shall miss you, Precious Wan!” She somberly whimpered using the name she had given him, for even in that short a time, she had grown quite accustomed to the little snake’s presence, moreover, overcoming her fear, had actually grown quite fond of him.  Tears glistening (brimming) in her eyes, she had then turned and walked away, resisting looking back, therefore, missing the fact the little white snake (Precious Wan) had just then jutted his head out of the water to watch her retrace her steps back to her home. That night returning to her lonely, sparsely furnished, drab room, she had read a little then went to sleep; in her troubled slumber she had dreamt of Precious Wan (wan meaning white) who’d glowed in strange, luminous light and instantly transformed into a human form, a most attractive, handsome young boy. She heard him speak, using strange vernacular (dialect, lingo), caught the name Longze and something urgent, something she could not rightly understand.

He then bashfully smiled, a smile transforming his already handsome features into something more exquisite that simply took her breath, and as she stood frozen, transfixed in wonder (admiration) of him, he hesitantly drew near and reverently planted a tender kiss, that tickled and excited her senses, on her left cheek. Upon waking she blushed, and her fingers reflexively (automatically, instinctively) reached out and touched the spot on her cheek, remembering the shy, tender kiss of his lips that had so delighted her. Subsequent days and weeks had quickly passed without any variance; and on those occasions when she took respite from her onerous chores to catch her breath, she often found herself thinking of Precious Wan.

Years passed quickly and by now she had grown into her mid teens. By then things had gotten worse at home, aside from neglect and barrage of open hostility, now that they were more grown up and Beatrice who was gentle and kind, possessed brilliance of mind, had a (curvy) shapely body and in face was stunningly  beautiful (gorgeous)- consequently, a strong, unequivocal jealousy had taken root in the black hearts of her step-mother and step-sisters.

At every important function, or party, meanwhile, Beatrice despite her plain attire, always drew unwarranted attention, outshining and without fail always steeling the limelight from the other elder siblings, who were instead clad in fancy brocades and were bedecked in jewels. Eligible young men always buzzed around Beatrice like bees drawn to a rare flower; choosing her company instead of her insufferable (obnoxious), not at all good looking, gussied up (decked out), haughty (snooty, condescending) stepsisters. Thinking Seson and Flaret were perfect, Tuziko blamed her stepdaughter for this typical rejection however, and to remedy this perceived inacceptable wrong, Beatrice was punished from then on by being excluded from every function and her bedding and stuff was relocated, for her to reside in one of the back rooms, near the servants’ quarters. There, mostly sequestered (quarantined) indoors, Beatrice was essentially rendered invisible.

05- MERCHANT KENZO

Kenzo did not object to this, being always too pre-occupied to bother with family affairs, he had left the entire business of proper upbringing of their teen children, as well, the running of the household to his competent wife, and concentrated his efforts instead, more on myriad business ventures and amassing abundant wealth.

The opulent, insatiable (greedy) merchant Kenzo, one day came to procure in his employ as his secretary, a seemingly ordinary youth, a taciturn (reticent, reserved, aloof) scholar who was actually a brilliant inventor and most capable, studious academic, named Nevets. He had come to them on a tumultuous, windswept day looking for employment and though he had no valid credentials, qualifying (measuring up) in the interview and satisfactorily passing Kenzo’s strict scrutiny, Nevets had been quickly hired then set to resolve most arduous (taxing, challenging) trade (commerce, marketing) matters.

06-NEVETS-

On his third day of employment, while Nevets was diligently attending to his master’s accounts, a chance encounter with the beautiful maiden Beatrice caused an unusual, intense stirring sensation in his chest. As he was handsome and seemed both sensitive and had dignified decorum, she was also quite taken with him. Both being pure and utterly innocent, they set these strange feelings, never before experienced, aside. Two days later, on their second coincidental encounter, however, when within that isolated setting (spot) they had the occasion to converse a little, furthermore, when their hand accidentally brushed sending lightening jolts in both, the spark that had previously ignited in in their heart and mind, the irresistible draw, then became undeniable and not easily ignored. Subsequently, they had sought each other’s company and after a week of covert, vernacular exchange of hopes and ideas, finding they had much in common- though they would never outwardly admit it- their friendship had blossomed into something much more: perhaps a deeper fondness, then unequivocally intense adoration, infatuation or, love!

Then came the time, when Kenzo, Teziko, Seson and Flaret planned to be away most of the night, attending an elaborate function at the Governor’s mansion (having purposely left out Beatrice),  for the Governor’s only son Lukon was actually seeking to find his future mate among the most eligible daughters of key prominent families, in that region (district, area).

As consequence, all day long a hectic preparation had ensued, turning everything upside down and engaging (having) all the servants franticly rushing to and for- tending and trying to fulfill Teziko, Seson and Flaret’s every inordinate (unreasonable) needs. Finally, just before dusk, they were finally all readied for the big function; they stood before tall mirrors admiring their image, all decked out in fineries, excessively encrusted with glittering jewels, from head to toe. Next, they all, Kenzo, Teziko, Seson and Flaret, climbed into the rich carriage of the state, reserved for such occasions, and took up their respective seats.

Beatrice impassively watched from the window of her room, the crested carriage driven by a pair of grooms, hauled by four magnificent horses, now leaving the iron gate. She took in a deep breath and shrugged, then quickly fetched her shawl and quietly went out of her room. Most of the servants, panting heavily, had collapsed into chairs out of sheer exhaustion, so none noticed, or paid any particular heed to her stealth advance through the hallways. Her steps quickly led her out the back door and to the rendezvous point in the woods, where at dusk she would meet Nevets clandestinely.

He was already there, impatiently waiting for her. When he turned and saw her, looking so radiantly beautiful, his breath caught and he remained speechless for a time. After only an awkward momentary hesitation, however, they rushed into each other’s embrace and then, for the first time ever, kissed; the kiss was tentative and gentle at first, but then it grew more intense and with deep sense of urgency. Eventually, when Nevets and Beatrice drew apart, their breath then steadied and seated comfortably underneath the canopy of the ancient tree, they then gazing into each other’s eyes, professed their love for each other. Nevets, furthermore, raptly and earnestly uttered his wow of fidelity to Beatrice.

Later still, Nevets rising to his feet and looking up, watched for a time the gently swaying branches and then, he softly uttered his apology to the ancient tree for what he was about to do. Next, he withdrew a small penknife from his pocket, and with some difficulty but persevering, he carved their initials onto the trunk, to permanently venerate (commemorate), this moment where which they had declared, eternal love for each other.

Such is the capriciousness of fate, for this clandestine meeting and the breach of conduct, the kiss, had been quietly observed by a disgruntled servant and was relayed soon after, the subsequent day, in fervent (ardent), full detail to master Kenzo. A jealous manservant (butler) who’d always stealthily coveted Beatrice’s affections but never had succeeded despite all his attempts to woo her, was the very culprit who had sought to destroy her bliss, and, to have his reckoning (vengeance, retribution) day.

If he could not have her; then none should have her, not certainly this upstart scholar!

Kenzo, highly incensed, had rushed at once to confront the scholar Nevets; finding him and ignoring Nevets’ words, moreover, uttering threats with murder registering in his pupils Kenzo dismissed Nevets on the spot and banished him from the state. Kenzo, while had ashamedly in all that time utilized the scholar’s ability and benefited greatly, still was prejudiced against all academicians and furthermore, regarded them all as idealistic fools; they were deemed hence, a most unworthy candidate to be his son-in-law. Besides which, he had more profitable avenues for dispensing his property, which he saw his daughter as one.  In an angry reprimand Kenzo next had unleashed his fury on his daughter; when his voice became coarse from all that bellowing (yelling) and uttered threats, he gave orders to have her virtually imprisoned within the confines of her room and all her activities from then on to be continually monitored by the two guards selected from his squadron (unit) of  twenty armed guards- which he retained for the standard security of the State.

Beatrice spent the subsequent days engulfed in a miasma of hopelessness and anger; and, often in utter frustration she shed copious tears.

While Beatrice withered away in her room, Kenzo and his wife Teziko, meanwhile, had already directed their attention to a much more important matter. There was much to do, bribes to be considered, palms to be greased, gifts to be allocated to key members of Governor’s family, for Seson had won the jackpot, so to speak. She was among the final five finalists, that were being consider for matrimony to the Governor’s son Lukon.

08- LUKON

Subsequent weeks, within that chaotic atmosphere, few paid any heed to Beatrice, and so the severe restrictions were gradually eased, and she was permitted now the infrequent leisurely walks in the gardens or by the water’s edge. The love-struck Beatrice, however, could not forget the handsome Nevets she’d fallen in love with, and, with longing heart, her thoughts often reverted to the happier times they both had shared. Sometimes she would sit beneath the ancient tree that had once been a place of joy and quietly weep.  Months went by but Beatrice still longed to see her handsome, young Nevets. In the interim, Kenzo and Teziko succeeded in their aim and with all the pomp and ceremony, happily married their daughter Seson to the governor’s son Lukon.

Kenzo and Teziko’s attention next was directed on their other most promising daughter Flaret and ensuing months they preened her and paraded Flaret like a peacock at subsequent, numerous functions (occasions, parties) to, as well find a suitable match for her and to have her settled down most profitably, to another opulent candidate.  This warranted more funds to aptly fill the coffers (that had been seriously depleted because of Seson), in anticipation of Flaret’s future nuptial expenditures.

Beatrice, meanwhile, out of sight and mind, albeit temporarily, was virtually forgotten. She spent many solitary walks into the woods and along the shoreline of the lake Taho. Sometimes she would wistfully look at the lake and wonder how the white little snake “Precious Wan”, which of course was now grown up, had all this while fared.

Then one day her eyes caught sight of a shell fitted with sails containing a poem, and a bead which Beatrice had given to Nevets. It had floated to the water’s edge.  Beatrice’s heart jumped for joy as hope sprung anew, for she grasped (realized) from this find, that her lover had not forsaken her.

Her elation was short lived, and joy turned to consternation, however, when that evening she was summoned by her father’s study and curtly informed of her (planned) upcoming betrothal to the Duke Takin, a very powerful, warrior Duke that resided at (far off) border province Keanfu.

DUKE TAKIN

Worse still, the Duke Takin was twenty-five years her senior and was renowned for his malice. Her heart sank in despair when it was announced to her that her future husband would be arriving in a few days time, bearing gifts of rare items and jewels to consolidate (solidify) the deal. The wedding was expected to take place soon after, for the duke had acquired a new land in adjacent territory and was anxious to develop it; meanwhile, he would be taking along for the ride, his new bride.  As it were, duke Takin did not care about the matrimonial event as he’d gone through it five times prior already, this being his sixth time, not by any means the last.  Kenzo, on the other hand urgently needed the funds to meet the anticipated expenditures, for the befittingly ostentatious, upcoming nuptial ceremonies planned for Flaret.

Then came the dreaded day when the duke Takin arrived by boat with extravagant, ostentatious (flamboyant, grandiose) display of his wealth, bearing chests of rare items and, one small box of rare, priceless jewels, as gifts, to lay claim to his (contrastingly lowly in stature) young, compliant, beautiful, intended (planned) bride to be.

On the eve of Beatrice’s anticipated wedding to the duke, when at a feast given in his honor, all grew sleepy from the continually replenished celebratory wine in their cups, Nevets, disguised as a servant, had slipped into the main hall, unnoticed. Nevets abided (stood) in the shadows till small hours and when Kenzo, the Duke and quests all became totally inebriated, the disguised Nevets, then easily passed through to the interior garden.

Earlier, Nevets had sent a message to Beatrice via her trusted, personal maid, in order to arrange a clandestine meeting by the small fountain.  Beatrice therefore had also fled through the hushed rooms, carrying the casket of jewels. Now in the inner gardens, as Nevets drew near, he saw his beautiful Beatrice sitting by the fountain.  His heart thumping wildly, he at once rushed to embrace her; they were so much in love that no words needed to be spoken out loud. They would brave all dangers, not wanting to face the future apart. They would elope and get married or die trying.

Her father Kenzo, the Duke, and the invited guests even some of the servants and guards had consumed so much wine that the couple almost made it through to safety. But unfortunately, just as they had reached the outer gate, her father Kenzo, prior seeking fresh air to clear his head, already there, about to relive himself (urinate, wee), therefore, spotting and recognizing his daughter and Nevets despite their disguises, shouted his alarm, causing the loving couple to be vehemently chased over the land and then on the lake.

It took the lovers, nevertheless, a harrowing effort and sheer luck, to make good their escape.  Nevets and Beatrice having raced across the bridge to an awaiting boat had sailed away, though still fervidly (ardently, vigorously) pursued; fortunately, just then a thick miasma (fog, haze) had suddenly manifested over the shoreline and the vast lake and therefore, aided them to eventually outrun the duke’s ship.

The duke Takin was outraged by this turn of events and after uttering threats, he demanded satisfaction from merchant Kenzo for his failing in his inadequate discipline of Beatrice and the disdainful security of his state that had allowed this disgrace (humiliation) to transpire. Kenzo was beside himself with fear and worry; in the end, he tried to pacify duke Takin, and going against the wishes of his wife Teziko, he proposed a resolution where which he would bestow his other more precious daughter Flaret’s hand in marriage to him, in Beatrice’s stead (lieu).

10 A - FLARET

The duke appeared hesitant at first, but in the end, not wishing to leave empty handed, he conceded to this replacement.

Nevets and Beatrice, meanwhile, had eventually reached a far-off small island and took refuge there; the retired official Marko whose island this was, loathed (hated, detested) the duke and ceasing this chance of retribution (revenge, payback), he eagerly welcomed the lovers into his home. He was willing to harbour the refugees for however long it was necessary, or at least, until the danger had abated. After a private ceremony with Marko’s blessings, the lovers officially became husband and wife.   For a period Nevets and Beatrice lived happily with Nevets earning his keep as the new tutor to Marko's only son who was about twelve years in age.  When the Duke Takin discovered their whereabouts however, Nevets and Beatrice, not wishing to bring least harm to Marko’s family, secretly took flight once again. Properly disguised, they secured a passage in a merchant ship that was about to depart. After an arduous, long trip, they disembarked (went ashore, arrived in port) at a remote small island, sparsely populated with a three separate indigenous (ethnic, local) group, totalling less then two hundred, that lived in separate shacks (huts, cabins) within three villages, located at walking distance from each other, on the island.   They were agrarian (farming) communities, with strange vernacular and alien customs, each village had a chieftain and a small group of elders that kept order, but more importantly, they kept to themselves.  Remoteness of the island, furthermore, afforded Nevets and Beatrice the anonymity and security they’d sought. Selling the reminder of the jewels, they purchased a small portion of land on the island, away from any settlement, alongside a creek, and then built a lovely pavilion on it. Nevets tilled the surrounding fields until it blossomed with every kind of fruit and vegetable. So successful were his agricultural ventures, Nevets wrote a book about how to cultivate the land and published it under an assumed name. Over time Nevets became renowned for his brilliant work and this, unfortunately, came to the attention of the vindictive Duke Takin.  Guessing who the author was and still hungry for vengeance, he immediately dispatched armed guards to the island to capture and kill the lovers.

Duke Takin's soldiers came upon Nevets as he was working his fields and slew him.

10- PICKNICKING IN THE FIELDS

Beatrice, was carrying his lunch (midday-meal)  in a covered basket, as they often picnicked in the fields; when she stumbled instead upon his corpse, determined to be with Nevets in death as she had been in life, she retrieved the knife from her basket that would have been used for slicing the bread, and plunged it deep into her heart.  Thus, they both perished.

The small white snake, “Precious Wan”, who was in fact The Dragon Longze, a long time ago had violated a sacred Law of Heaven and was duly punished for half a century by being stripped of some of his powers. Longze, in that period was reincarnated as mortal in various forms.  He had, nevertheless, persevered through these ruthless, evil ordeals and torments, endured myriad trials and tribulations, felt most anguished pain, experienced innumerable deep loss and lived though unbearable sorrows. He had with stoicism (fortitude, grit) survived all these and, just at the cusp (brink, end) of his sentence, on that terrible afternoon in the form of a little white snake he had yet again faced, imminent, ignoble end. Fortunately for him, however, he was rescued by Beatrice and since then, in addition to his eternal gratitude, he had carried a special fondness for this rare, compassionate mortal being.

Once his punishment had ended and his immortal state restored, he had since then quietly dwelled (resided) at the bottom of the lake Taho. Nevertheless, having never forgotten her kindness and the debt of gratitude he owed her, he had from time to time, through his magic mirror, keenly observed his once benefactor Beatrice, watching her grow up and turn into an enchanting beauty. Unfortunately, her fated life being precarious (turbulent) and grave, he’d with sadness overwhelming him, observed her unjust suffering and many misfortunes. He’d naturally wished to appeal her case in Heavenly court, but was deterred from his aim each time by  the caring, friendly  Gods and immortals- for he was actually well liked, despite his rebel nature or perhaps because of it-  who’d reminded him of  Supreme God’s stringent (inflexible, rigid) stand when it came to Celestial (Cosmic) Laws and the non-interference clause (article, law) pertaining to the destiny of myriad mortal beings.

11- DRAGON LONGZE WATCHES

Once, however, observing the lover’s desperate flight, he’d dared to act recklessly, and assisted their escape from the clutches of death, by manifesting the miasma; it was a small-scale help, hoping as he did, it would go unnoticed by Heaven. And luckily for him it had.

Though, his unruly nature often gnawed at him to interfere and set things right by them, his own precarious position, being on probation had curtailed him thus far, from another serious breach (violation) of Heavenly Law.

On that faithful day though, having witnessed Nevets and Beatrice’s plight and ultimately, their tragic demise, moreover, their undying love and devotion towards each other to the very end, he could no longer stand idly by and do nothing.

One more violation, he’d been warned, and he would be imprisoned in a cave for all eternity.

Regardless of the consequence, the infuriated Longze, yet again braving the terrible wrath of Heaven, contravened; and this time, because his success depended on speed, before he could be stopped, moving at lightening speed, he’d intentionally violated (breached, disobeyed) another most sacrosanct (sacred, inviolate) Divine law:

Longze in his mighty Dragon form, soared upwards from the churning, foamy waters of the deep lake, to shot through the sky stopping only when he reached the moon’s surface. There, he snuck into the palace of the Moon Goddess and swiftly stole the little porcelain bottle containing two magic elixirs. He removed the cap of the small bottle, tilted the mouth and dropped the two pearly pills into his palm.

Back on earth and in his human form, squatting beside each of the corpses, tilting their head back, Beatrice first and then Nevets’s, one after the other, he pried (forced) open their mouth and then fed them the immortal elixir pills, making sure it went down their throat.

12- LONGZE REVIVES THEN TRANSFORMS THE LOVERS INTO MANDARIN DUCKS

Next, he blew his cool breath encapsulating Nevets and Beatrice in luminous miasma, at which point, the two corpses instantly transformed into colourful, immortal Mandarin Ducks. He reverted to his dragon form, gently picked them up, cradling them within his clows and flew over the mighty lake Taho, then at some distant, secluded safe spot, he gently released the grip and deposited them onto the water.  The two Mandarin Ducks can still be seen today, always together, playfully circling each other and happily riding the gentle undulating waves of the Taho lake.

The End.

NOTE: What befell Lonze? Here’s a hint: Check the earlier post about LONGZE.

13- lONGZE IS PUNISHED
